That time I attempted to make a S'mores Cake.

In my head I believe I am the best baker of life. I have all these cool ideas and awesome tricks that I believe I can do and I'll be great at. Then I actually bake and the truth comes out. What I bake is delicious but it always looks like crap and I made a huge mess. Delicious, but a crappy mess.

I have been in a mood to bake or cook something and post it up on here forever now. I finally got my big girl panties and decided to try it out. I was on pinkwhen.com and saw this amazing S'mores cake recipe so I decided to take my crappy messy baking chances and get my bake on. Let me say, I didn't do half bad if I say so myself.

Ingredients:
  • 1 or 2 (I used 2 for an overly large cake) Yellow cake mixes.
  • Graham Crackers
  • Marshmallows
  • Chocolate Frosting
  • Chocolate Chips (Pinkwhen used Hershey Chocolate bars)

Bake your yellow cake mix or mixes with ingredients listed on the box. Follow box instructions as well. Once cakes are fully baked, allow to completely cool down. While cakes are cooling down, you can crush the graham crackers. I placed them in a Zip Lock back and started hammering away with my hands. It's a great stress reliever lol.

Once cakes are fully cooled, take them out of the baking pans, Place chocolate frosting on the first cake and sprinkle a layer of the crumbled up graham cracker on top of frosting.

Take the second cake and spread some chocolate frosting. Place a small amount of the graham cracker crumbs on top of the frosting. Leaving some chocolate cracker free will allow the marshmallows to stick to the cake properly.

Place the marshmallows on top of cake. I added some chocolate chips just for fun. You can never have too much chocolate. Place in the oven with the broiler on to toast the marshmallows and melt the chocolate.

Make sure to keep a really close eye on it. The marshmallows will toast quickly and you do not want them to burn. You want them to get a nice light brown bronze color.

Once marshmallows are toasty and taken out of the oven. Allow it to cool down. Once cooled, place the marshmallow cake on top of the cake with the graham crackers and frosting. Take the remaining chocolate frosting and spread around layered cake to cover up the sides.

Once that is complete, start placing the chocolate chips all around the cake. You can always use and place the graham cracker crumbs around the cake as well.

Doesn't it look so yummy? When ready to serve just slice it up and mm. mmm. gooood. You can always heat it up in the microwave and have a warm s'mores-gaborge.

It did not come out anywhere near as nice as pinkwhen.com but it sure was delicious. It went out pretty fast even if it was a ginormous cake. What are some of your favorite s'mores delights? I think I'm going to try that fantastic s'mores dip that I have been seeing all over the internet! Hope you enjoy. If you make this cake let me know how yummy it went (:

Happy Baking <3
